We were appointed to provide Architectural services for this exciting new bespoke dwelling on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool canal in East Morton early last year, and it’s very satisfying to see it now nearing completion. We have been particularly excited about this project for some time. Not only for it’s prominent position on the canal-side, but also because of the ambitious and contemporary design which our client was keen to champion. Our planning application to Bradford Council hit a few unexpected delays, due to the discovery of some ancient lime kilns directly under the site however, after designing an intricate pile foundation arrangement, Bradford planners were suitably happy to grant planning consent and allow works to proceed.
The cedar cladding to the canal-side elevation gives colour and warmth to the building, and also contrasts well against the anthracite grey window frames.
Works have progressed well over the Spring of 2012 with the house now nearing completion and providing an interesting and striking addition to the area, and once the render has been applied over the coming few days, we think the house will be transformed once again.

This has been one of our more exciting architectural commissions in recent times, and we feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to design what we hope will become a landmark dwelling in the local vicinity. The house is due to be complete in early Autumn and we are very much looking forward to commissioning some professional photographs of the finished article….
