December sees us commence a number of new architectural commissions, most of which are for private residential clients, which is encouraging, particularly at this time of year. These include residential projects in the form of house extensions, loft conversions, and whole house renovations, in Baildon and Thornton, near Bradford, Brighouse, Harrogate and Leeds, as well as some initial concepts / scheme proposals for more involved new-build developments in Bradford & Ilkley.
We usually find that there is a notable slowdown, particularly with residential building projects, during the weeks leading up to Christmas, but encouragingly this year seems to be anything but. We commented during our last blog post that the sudden surge in building activity seemed to have coincided with the news that the UK is officially out of recession, and the signs are that the construction industry, particularly with regards smaller projects is gaining confidence. Let’s hope it continues.
