blog: works set to start on underground annexe on Ilkley Moor…

Building works are due to start this month on one of our more unsual architectural projects; an underground annexe on Ilkley Moor. The proposal will consist of an underground space containing a kitchen, bedroom, house bathroom and office, whilst a glazed oak frame to the frontage will house a living room / dining area with spectacular views across the Wharfe Valley towards Beamsley Beacon.

The use of acid-etched glass on internal doors, as well as subtly placed mirrors, will allow natural light to diffuse around the whole of the interior, which will be fit-out in a crisp and contemporary manner. The building will be highly efficient from a thermal and heating point of view, mainly due to the excellent insulating qualities of the ground into which it will be inset. Look out for more progress photographs and updates on our blog and architectural project pages over the coming months….
