Full refurbishment and conversion of the former Wheatsheaf Pub, Leeds / £300,000 approx
Architectural, interior design & project management services / Leeds City Council
Our brief for this project was to provide a full Architectural service to refurbish this famous landmark Yorkshire Pub, close to Leeds United’s football stadium on the Leeds Ring Road for a high profile client. The pub had been derelict for a few years and had fallen into a state of severe disrepair, before the client decided that it would make the perfect location for their new premises.
Architecturally, the original fabric of the building has been left largely intact, with obvious repairs being carried out, and although the usage of the building has changed, the alterations have been very sensitively considered so as not to distract from the original character of the building externally, yet seeing a very modern, contemporary fit-out internally.
The accommodation comprises two treatment rooms, gym, large reception space, sauna, showers and changing facilities at ground floor, with a modern open-plan office at first floor. Externally, the site has been extensively landscaped in a sensitive manner. Building works were expertly carried out by Dobson Building Contractors of Wakefield, and the premises opened it’s doors in mid 2011.
