First floor master en-suite extension over existing ground floor accommodation in Baildon, near Bradford / £30,000 approx
Architectural & interior design service / City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council
We were appointed to provide Architectural & interior design services on this project in Baildon, near Bradford, which began with a planning application being submitted to Bradford Council’s planning department for a first floor extension, containing a large master bedroom and en-suite facilities, along with some other internal alterations. Surprisingly our initial application was turned down by the local council however, we felt strongly that, not only were our proposals suitable from a planning perspective, they would improve the existing dwelling significantly, which prompted us to lodge a successful appeal against the decision.
Following our grant of planning permission by appeal, works have since been undertaken and completed, much to our client’s delight. The original house is constructed in coursed sandstone, and we were particularly pleased with the seamless addition of the new external walls at first floor level, as well as the extension of the chimney stack. Internally, the extended area features a master bedroom which enjoys several window openings, as well as a Juliet balcony, a contemporary en-suite, and a walk-in wardrobe complete with bespoke sliding doors.
Our client understandably became disillusioned after the initial planning setback however, we are pleased that we persevered, and hope that our client can enjoy this space for years to come….
