Project brief:

We provided Architectural & Interior Design Services for this single storey dining / kitchen extension to the rear of a charming stone terraced house close to Shipley town centre. After obtaining planning permission via Bradford Council, we set about producing a detailed building regulations application for the works, which involved the main extension, the removal of the back wall of house containing the previous kitchen, in order to open up the extended space, and a complete new kitchen.

Solid oak bi-folding doors to the side elevation, along with a large window and equally large roof-light ensure that the south-facing space benefits from the maximum amount of daylight. Although it was necessary to step the floor level of the new extension down from the kitchen level, we think this adds character and interest, and the oak flooring links the space well.
