Whole house renovation including two extensions to existing bungalow in Whitkirk, Leeds / £85,000 approx
Architectural, interior design & project management services / Leeds City Council
We were appointed to provide Architectural, interior design & project management services for this project which was located in a quiet residential area, close to Temple Newsam Park in Whitkirk, Leeds. The existing bungalow was tired, run-down and in need of a new lease-of-life, and had been purchased by a retired couple who were looking to invest quite heavily into the property, in order to make it their dream home.
We started the ball rolling with a planning application to Leeds City Council to extend the property at each end, replace the existing flat garage roof with a new pitched roof, completely re-roof the existing dwelling, replace all windows, form a new bay window to the front elevation, along with various other elements of renovation work. Following the grant of planning permission by Leeds City Council, we set about producing detailed construction drawings, which included a complete internal overhaul, involving the re-planning of the internal layout, a bespoke new kitchen, house bathroom, living area, and the inclusion of a new Utility within a former outdoor store, which would be linked to the house via another small extension.
Architecturally, the renovation works were very traditional, and much in keeping with the surrounding area however, the house was unrecognisable from it’s former state, which was much to our client’s delight. Following the building regulations application we oversaw the building works, which were expertly carried out by PD Developments (Yorkshire), in a project management capacity under a formal JCT building contract.
