Complete refurbishment of existing country pub, including large extension and sun terrace outside Otley, near Leeds / £315,000 approx
Architectural, interior design & project management services / Harrogate Borough Council
Along with our architectural designs for the exterior of the building, proposed extension and sun terrace, we were also heavily involved in the internal refurbishment works for this project. The existing bar was removed with a majestic new sweeping bar introduced in a similar position, but extending into the new restaurant extension, which has become a major focal point of the venue. We meticulously planned each shelf, panel, recess and detail of the bar and back-bar, which was in turn beautifully crafted and installed by Houghton’s of Baildon. We also produced numerous design and setting out drawings for the new WC’s, oak trusses within the extension, fixed seating, window seat, reclaimed brickwork fireplace, privacy screens, and general finishes throughout, which we thoroughly enjoyed developing. We feel that the works carried out to the existing interior compliment the new extension beautifully, with items like the bar and reclaimed brick walls providing a sound visual link between new and old.
Internally, the venue now benefits from four separate areas, so visitors can always find an area which suits their mood or requirements, whether it be a large family meal for a special occasion, or a quiet pint with the newspaper and the dog!
As mentioned in the above project description, this has been a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding architectural commission, and one which we will remember fondly for a long time to come…
