Pub refurb project to be decided at committee…

It’s quite some time since any information was added to our site with regards to our proposals to re-open, extend and refurbish a well known local pub, and we have spent the last 4 months negotiating with Harrogate Planners with regards to the merits of our proposals. The proposals to radically improve the venue, which is an old stone Victorian end-terrace property, enjoying breathtaking views over the Wharfe Valley, have been met with an incredible amount of support from local residents in Newall-with-Clifton, residents of the wider area of Otley and Wharfedale, the local parish council and local MP’s alike. However, we have so far struggled to convince the local planning authority in Harrogate that this application should be approved, despite numerous submissions of supporting information to demonstrate that our proposals comply with planning policy, and the unwavering support of the local community. Obviously, the last few weeks have been very frustrating for all in favour of, what will essentially become, a fantastic country food-pub venue, and the outcome of our application will now be determined by the Harrogate Planning Committee on Tuesday 19th July!

Whilst understandably apprehensive, due to the amount of hard work that has gone into this project so far, we are also quietly confident that our application will be successful. Should this be the case, we shall be looking to start building work in ernest, as soon as possible, and will obviously keep our web-site regularly updated………
